What is Wind & Wings?

Wind & Wings is the major new initiative of the Episcopal churches of Wyoming to help our younger people in Wyoming - children, teens and young adults - to succeed. It is for all the younger people of Wyoming.

Working within the framework of our Christian life, we will help children, youth and young adults lead healthy, fulfilling and productive lives by:

- Mobilizing the assets of our people, our congregations and our communities;
- Creating welcoming congregations for the young;
- Empowering congregations to move into the world;
- Providing knowledge, skills, people, and money to create partnerships that fulfill this mission.

Funding Requirements

The estimated cost of Wind & Wings over its first five years is $5 million. Those funds will be invested in the four core strategies of the Initiative and in the leadership and resource development work done by the diocese:

- Engaging Younger People in Service - $500,000
- Building the Capacity of Congregations - $1,750,000
- Maximizing the Value of HR Camp - $1,100,000
- Community Development - $500,000
- Leadership and Resource Development - $1,150,000

The plan to finance Wind & Wings over those five years is through a three-pronged strategy:

1. This highly focused campaign among individual donors and congregations to secure commitments of $2,500,000 over the five years;
2. Commitment from the Diocesan Foundation to match all commitments secured during the campaign to a maximum of $2,500,000 to be paid out over five years from its existing assets;
3. Ongoing fund-raising within the diocese and throughout the state, with particular emphasis on building partnerships with private donors and state and local government to support specific local and regional initiatives.

Giving to the Campaign

Wind & Wings will define the Episcopal Church in Wyoming for a decade and more. If we are to live into this vision it will require that the diocesan structure, each individual church member, and each congregation discern what God is calling them to do for young people. It will require a realignment of priorities and resources. This initiative will entail personal involvement, prayer, advocacy, resource generation, partnership building, and empowerment of people and communities. Wind & Wings will make it possible to leave a legacy by establishing long-term funding, infrastructure, and expertise for youth and young adult programming.

The success of the Wind & Wings campaign will have a significant affect upon the diocese's ability to impact the youth ministry needs of each congregation and community. The proposed projects will offer a brighter future for young people in all regions within our diocese. Your participation in this $2.5 million Wind & Wings campaign provides an opportunity to leave a legacy and live out our Baptismal Covenant. Pledges can be paid out over a period of 5 years.

We have a chance to make a difference, by the way we live, and by the way we act toward others. Wind & Wings gives us the opportunity to contribute to a better statewide community for all of us. Our goal is to enrich the lives of our youth... who knows what else will happen along the way? This is a challenge we cannot ignore.
